Earn Cash and Rebates with Florence Bank Cashback Checking*

You’re traveling, and you’re out of cash, so you use your Florence Bank debit card at an ATM, but the machine charges you $4.75 for the transaction. You sigh, and agree to pay it. You need the cash.

On this same trip, you need to visit an ATM three times to restock your wallet, paying a total of $14.25 in fees.

We want to make sure you know there’s a much better way to pay when you’re away.

With a Florence Bank Cashback Checking account, fees charged for ATM withdrawals outside of the Florence Bank ATM network are rebated. Fees are initially charged while you’re traveling and are then rebated to your account at the end of your statement cycle.

And, thanks to the two percent cashback bonus feature, you can earn up to $10 each month on any purchases made with your Florence Bank Visa Debit Card.

When you combine the three ATM rebates and the $10 cashback bonus, the net gain is almost $25.

“Customers love Cashback Checking,” says Kim Downing, branch manager / assistant vice president in our Chicopee location. “They have the potential to earn a cashback bonus of up to $10 each month, plus rebates on ATM fees. It’s convenient, and they get rewards. It’s a nice benefit.”

How it works

Kim explains that Cashback Checking is available to current Florence Bank customers and those who would like to become customers. “It’s one of our most popular accounts,” she adds.

After opening an account, customers begin to earn two percent on debit card purchases up to $10 a month, potentially earning $120 a year—just by spending money.

Kim explains that there are three monthly requirements for earning and having ATM fees waived. Customers must:

  • Make at least one deposit per month.
  • Make at least 12 purchases using their debit card each month.
  • Sign up for e-statements within Online Banking rather than receipt through the postal system.

At the end of your statement cycle, if you’ve met all the requirements during that cycle, we’ll deposit your two percent cash back and rebate any ATM fees charged to your account.

“If you don’t qualify in a particular month, you can qualify the next month and get back to earning cash back,” Kim explains.

She also adds that customers who are over age 65 can order new checks at no cost with Cashback Checking, and if they accidentally overdraw their account, the overdraft fee is $5 instead of $33.

Kim says there is no monthly service charge with Cashback Checking, nor is there a minimum balance requirement. Overdraft services are available upon request.

How you can get started with a Cashback Checking account

Current customers with a debit card that is not associated with a Cashback Checking account can switch to this type of account by visiting a local branch or calling the Customer Service Center at 800-644-8261. If you want to open a Cashback Checking account in addition to your current account, you can do so at florencebank.com. After you sign in, follow the prompts to open a personal checking account and select “Cashback Checking” when given a list of choices.

If you are not a Florence Bank customer and wish to open a Cashback Checking account, it is just as easy. You can open an account online at florencebank.com or in person at any of Florence Bank’s 12 branch locations.

New customers will need to provide a:

  • U.S. Social Security number
  • Valid driver’s license or state ID
  • Credit/debit card number or bank account and routing numbers (if opening an account online)
  • Cash or check (if opening an account in-person)

Kim says you’ll begin earning one statement cycle after your application is accepted.

She says, “Cashback Checking is one of our best accounts because customers can earn money back on their checking account every month based on transactions, and if you’re traveling, you can use your ATM at any location and know you’re going to get those fees back.”

Banking with Florence Bank is easy—and rewarding. Always.

* To earn 2% cash back (up to $10) on debit card purchases posted to your account, and refunds of nationwide ATM fees incurred during each monthly statement cycle, you must have 12 or more debit card purchases post to your account; be enrolled in online banking and receive eStatements; and must have at least one deposit post during each monthly statement cycle. If requirements are met, we will post cash back rewards to your account and refund ATM fees on the last business day of the monthly statement cycle. ATM fee refunds may be reportable as miscellaneous income.
